Denefield School is a Foundation College of Technology which provides secondary education for children in the western parts of greater Reading, roughly half live in West Berkshire and half in Reading Borough. It is supported by West Berkshire LEA although it is self governing.
It has around 1200 pupils with around 170 in the 6th form and it has its own website [Denefield School]
Its principal feeder primaries are Long Lane Primary School, Westwood Farm Junior School and Downsway Primary School.
It was built in 1973 and its first pupils came from Cintra School in Reading when that school closed. Its first headmaster was Derek Hopkins (1973-1984). He was followed by Mike Scott (1984-2000) and the present head is Eric Joint. For more information on its history click here [HISTORY]
