Education

Education is a life long pursuit and the education provided for the children and people of Purley is pretty good.

It starts at playgroups or nurseries and we have quite a selection:-  Pangbourne Nursery, Denefield Playgroup, Purley Tots, Purley Playgroup, Westwood Farm Playgroup.

Then children from south of the A329 move on to Long Lane Primary while those north of the A329 go to Purley C of E Infants and on to Long Lane for Year 3. A few children from Purley go to Westwood Farm School, Pangbourne Primary School or Englefield School.

The majority of children move to Denefield for their secondary education, however a few go to Little Heath or Theale Green Schools in West Berkshire and others go to Reading School or Kendrick School which are single sex grammar schools in Reading. There are several private schools in the area as well, which provide day classes, notably Pangbourne College and Presentation College (Roman Catholic)

Adult education is provided by:-  Reading University Dept of Extended Education, Newbury College (at several sites in the area), The Open University (at Denefield) and the WEA.

I am a governor of both Long Lane and Denefield Schools, a member of the West Berks Education Committee and an OFSTED Lay Inspector
