First the Fighting
Battalions
The war is divided up into a number of phases starting
with the commencement of a major engagement in which the Royal Berks were
involved. Where a particular battalion was not actively engaged the period is
referred to as an ‘interlude’. Select the combination of battalion and phase of
interest. The column marked b/g provides background to the phase and some
information as to what was happening in other theatres of the war. Other
columns provide a continuous account of each battalion’s activity in the war.
The row marked ‘itineraries’ provides a simple day by day listing of where they
were. The row marked ‘Colleagues’ gives details of the other battalions they
were brigaded with and the other brigades in their Division.

Second - The other
battalions
The other battalions’ activities
do not easily fit into the same structure as above. However the arrangement is
similar. There are sections for when the battalions were absorbed into other
units.
